About Wilton Auto Electric
This whole thing started in 2000 when
the voltage regulator in my sports car quit.
I spent quite a bit of time trying to get that unit
adjusted to operate to my satisfaction and never did
get it to work like I thought it should.
Finally I said to myself that I can do better than that
with a solid-state unit.
I'm a semi-retired electrical engineer and classic car enthusiast, so I
set out to design a new and better regulator.
After about a year breadboarding and trying different circuits, I
finally got a voltage regulator to work, but then realized that
I should put a current limiter in it. That was a bit trickier
but I got one to work that met my standards.
I used all top quality parts, no effort was made to reduce costs.
For my car the best was none too good.
I built one up and put it in my car. I found that it worked very
well and when I mentioned it to one of my friends he asked if I
would build one for him.
I did and it is still in his car working well.
As they say, "the rest is history".
